President and Founder, Specified Tile and Floor Covering

David Hodges is the cornerstone of Specified Tile and Floor Covering, bringing over 40 years of expertise to the flooring industry. Since founding the company in 1991, he has guided its growth with a steady hand, establishing Specified as a trusted partner in commercial flooring solutions. For more than three decades, the company has proudly operated out of Henrico County, serving clients with precision, reliability, and a commitment to excellence.

Born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, David’s roots in the community run deep. His leadership style reflects both his industry knowledge and his dedication to building lasting relationships. Under his direction, Specified has become known not only for its technical expertise but also for its culture of partnership and performance.

Beyond the business, David finds joy in life’s simple pleasures. He is a devoted father to two sons and a proud grandfather to five grandchildren, who keep his days full of energy and purpose. At home, he enjoys time with his loyal dog, Laney, and embraces the outdoors through biking and trips to the beach.

Whether he’s steering a project to success or pedaling along a trail, David is recognized for his integrity, vision, and unwavering commitment to both his family and the flooring industry.

Josh Hodges

Josh Hodges is the driving force behind Specified Tile and Floor Covering, a company known for precision, partnership, and performance in commercial flooring solutions. With 16 years in the business, Josh blends deep industry knowledge with a hands-on approach that keeps projects running smoothly and clients coming back.

A proud graduate of Virginia Tech, Josh began building his career early, interning for three summers (2006–2008) with Liberty Property Trust, where he worked under respected mentors Jay Kraft and Al Lingerfelt. That experience laid the groundwork for his leadership style focused, collaborative, and always detail-driven.

Josh grew up in Hanover County, Virginia, and has remained deeply connected to the region’s construction community. He served as Past President of the Richmond AGC, where he championed industry standards and fostered strong contractor relationships.

Off the job site, Josh is a passionate soccer coach, dedicated to mentoring young athletes with the same energy he brings to his business. He and his wife Megan are proud parents to three amazing kids Sam, Reese, and June, who keep life joyful and full of purpose.

Ryan Hodges

Managing Partner and Project Manager, Specified Tile and Floor Covering

With over 12 years of experience in healthcare construction, Ryan Hodges has built a reputation for delivering successful, high-impact projects, in the most logistically challenging areas within hospitals. Growing up immersed in the construction industry, Ryan began as an installation helper during his summer breaks before earning his degree from Virginia Tech. Today, he leads with a hands-on approach as Managing Partner and Project Manager at Specified Tile and Floor Covering. Ryan currently sits on the State Board for the Virginia Society of Healthcare Engineers.

Outside of work, Ryan is passionate about giving back, serving on the Young Professionals Leadership Council (YPLC) for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. At home, he enjoys life with his wife, Tara, and their dog, Odin. When he’s not working or volunteering, you can find Ryan fishing the Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean, pursuing his love for the outdoors.
